Sublime Text 4 is the current version of Sublime Text.

Sublime Text may be downloaded and evaluated for free, however a license must be purchased for continued use. There is currently no enforced time limit for the evaluation.

New Features and Improvements
- Sidebar can now be moved to the right side using the sidebar_on_right setting
- Build systems can now optionally have an input box by using interactive: true
- Added disable_plugin_host_3.3 setting. This causes all plugins to run under 3.8
- Rewritten syntax highlighting for SQL, ActionScript, Diff, Bash and Graphviz
- Added Zsh and TOML syntax highlighting
- Improved git status performance
- Significantly improved performance when editing with many selections
- Added default_font_size, reload_file_in_background and set_unsaved_view_name_for_syntax settings
Source transparency
Sublime Text is a commercial native application. The editor binary is not published as an open-source tree. Default packages and many community plugins are readable on disk after install.
SHA hashes and signatures
A SHA-256 digest tells you whether the file you saved matches the file that was published. A signature shows that a specific publisher produced the package. Compare those values after the download finishes. If no digest is listed yet, wait for it before you treat the file as verified.
Antivirus false-positive clarification
Desktop editors write files, watch folders and register shortcuts. Heuristic scanners sometimes label that pattern as unwanted. A heuristic alert is not the same thing as a confirmed infection. Compare the file hash, then restore from quarantine only if the hash matches. More steps are on the guides page.
Security and integrity
The editor works on files you open. Packages you add later can run Python, so only add packages you trust. A license key is entered inside the running application. This site does not collect keys.
